Ingestion of Euglena may relieve constipation

Twenty-eight people (40–60-year-old) ingested 2 g of an Euglena powder daily. Consequently, the daily stool output, which is calculated based on the frequency of defecation per day and the mean amount of each defecation, increased, implying that Euglena may contribute to the relief of constipation.
What is constipation?

Constipation is a common health problem among modern people who enjoy a varied diet. Although the frequency of stool output varies greatly from person to person, the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine defines constipation as a state when the frequency of defecation is less than three times per week or there is a sense of incomplete evacuation, despite a normal daily bowel movement. Constipation is a state when a stool remains in the large intestine for a long period, which deteriorates the intestinal environment and facilitates the production of harmful substances. Such substances are absorbed through the intestinal wall and transported by the blood throughout the body, causing anorexia, skin roughness, and other serious symptoms.
